Furnace Joint Recall in Effect

Furnace Joint Recall in Effect

Health Canada, Unitary Products Group (UPG) of York International Corp. and the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) recently issued a joint recall for Coleman, Coleman Evcon and Red T brand furnaces. The furnaces are silver in colour with white access panels and can be identified by brand name or by the model numbers listed on the nameplate (numbers available on Health Canada’s website – Consumer Product Recalls).

According to the recall issued by Health Canada, the furnaces can overheat causing the heat exchanger to crack, burn through, and in extreme cases, cause furnace wrapper burn-through. Approximately 2373 of the recalled furnaces were sold in Canada between 1995 and November 2000.
